Adolescent males SG1, SG2, & SG3 at the Zuchtschau.
SG2, goes to Mid-South Regional Director, Dr. Gayla Salvati with Asher von der Roten Erde.
Rain was forecasted the day of the Zuchtschau, so Herman Joseph rolled up his knickers!
The Mid-South Region hosted the 2006 Annual Banquet at Purina Farms in St Louis, Missouri in May.

We would like to thank everyone who pitched in to make this event one to remember. Special note of gratitude goes to Purina Farms, for use of their facility & Steve Remspecher for doing all the leg work. Jim Shupe and his family let us use their farm for the Derby and BTR as well as one heck of a barbeque!

The weather for the test couldn't have been better and the grounds were impeccable. All the dogs did well in the Derby with a majority receiving prize 1's. One dog passed the BTR as well!

There were several speakers present at the meeting giving lectures on Performance Dog nutrition, The Trained Retrieve, & an Introduction to the E-Collar.  Thanks to Purina, Dave Trahan and Phil Salvati.  Their time donated is appreciated.  They all worked hard to present timely, thoughtful and interesting seminars.

Many thanks also needs to go to those who helped in the not so obvious ways that make a huge difference when putting on a meeting.  Steve Boyd and his work on the auction, Lisa and Wayne Davis and their help with registrations and meal tickets, Rich Dobey being test secretary and his help where ever it was needed from holding dogs in pictures to bar tending!  All those nameless folks who helped clean up and pick up and many others who were more than willing to lend a hand.

The banquet went well with great food and cheer! We thank everyone that donated merchandise for the auction.  Congratulations to all those awarded recognition for their achievements with their dogs as well as for their contributions to the club.

I am proud of the success of the Mid-South region's hosting of the Annual Meeting and I am excited about new members, new puppies and our continued growth.   In an area where our members have been few and spread out, we are finally reaching the point that we can become more active and more independent.  We will host our own tests, have training days and finally be able to organize into a more functional and useful region for our members.

Thanks again for everyone's help and enthusiasm!

2006 Fall Mid-South Solms/VGP

The test will be held in Perry,OK. Our area has small rolling hills with low vegetation. We have had a very dry summer, but the wild birds seem to have fared rather well. We conveniently scheduled the test in the beginning of the Quail hunting season. Those planning to attend are welcome to arrive a few days early or stick around after to hunt with us.

More information is available here, on the Test Page.

2007 Mid-South Derby, VJP, BTR & Zuchtschau.

Unseasonable cold weather was predicted for Saturday morning, and the start of our spring test. Regardless, the 4 Derby dogs were eager to get started.

The judging team consisted of, Rob Engleking, Ken Willis, Chuck Davis & Todd Waite. Three of the four handlers were first timers, Harry Lopez with Devon vom Riverwoods, Pam Waite with Klara vom Geestmoor and Alexandra Taylor with Zasha vom Riverwoods. Patrick Taylor handled Jette vom Borsumer Hof.

Nerves trembled while the welcome, introduction and test agenda was given. The bird planter went out and the first dog was called to the line. All the dogs did very well! Which brought on even more emotion! Each dog in the test had the chance to mark and track a rabbit, giving them two extra accolades to their name. Mid-day brought the conclusion of the test. The Zuchtschau began after lunch and a quick warm up for the judges.

Adult males were up first. Asher von der roten Erde & Cisco on Point both received SG's. Devon vom Riverwoods, the only young male, was bred by the judge making him unable to receive a score. For practice, we ran Harry and Devon through the ringer, Rob said he should receive a SG in the next test.

Adult Females: Fine von der Madlage received a V, Annadarko von der roten Erde received an SG, Afton von der roten Erde received an SG and Asta vom Adlerberg received an SG. Young females concluded the day. Klara vom Geestmoor received an SG, Jette vom Borsumer Hof received an SG, Zasha vom Riverwoods, like Devon was bred by the judge making her ineligible to test. We also ran her and Alexandra through the ringer just for practice. Zasha should receive an SG in the next available test as well.

Finally.....The judges gathered to read off the scores for the Derby! Devon, Pr.1*, LN, HN. Zasha, Pr.1*, LN, HN. Jette, Pr.1*, LN, HN. The judges concurred, saying all the dogs did rather well, but there was one that showed great desire and enthusiasm. Klara received a Pr.1*, w/ 2 4H's, LN, HN.

Another test comes to a close. Congratulations to all!

The Mid-South did it again! Another well run test that was great fun too! Saturday evening brought on the cookout. A Bonfire, Crawfish boil, thanks to the Lopez & Taylor families and good times with great friends.

Our judges took time out of their busy schedules to be with us this weekend. Your professionalism, helpfulness and friendship is a valuable asset to our club. Thank you again!

We can't hold these affairs without help from our members and friends. All of you are greatly appreciated. We are planning a large fall test this year. We hope to see all of you again as well as some new faces too!

Have a great summer!

The NADKC sponsored information booth hosted by the Mid-South Region was a huge success! We met many people who were not attuned to the wide abilities of the Deutsch Kurzhaar.

Having several dogs on hand with the help of our members made the long days fly by.

Many new friendships were made and several new interested people showed up to our last training day. We are rapidly growing into a sizable region as the interest grows in the true versatile breed.

A big thank you goes to the National club and all the members who helped out at the booth.
